What is a FISH Probe?

These are fluorescently labeled molecular chains that bind to specific DNA or RNA sequences, and are gene detection reagents used in FISH (Fluorescence in Situ Hybridization). They are used to detect and visualize chromosomal abnormalities and specific gene regions, and are an essential tool for analyzing chromosomal translocations, deletions, and amplifications.

How to use a fish probe?

What can be checked with FISH Probe

FISH Probes primarily use illumination to visualize specific genes or chromosome locations, allowing us to check whether their number has increased, whether they have been deleted, or whether they are located in the correct position.

  1. ( 01 )

    Gene amplification and deletion

This allows you to check whether a specific gene has been amplified or deleted (missing).

  2. ( 02 )

    Gene cutting and isolation

This allows you to check if a specific gene has been cut midway and is not split into an abnormal state.

  3. ( 03 )

    Gene translocation and fusion

This allows us to check whether different chromosomes have been swapped (translocation) and whether abnormal fusion genes (such as those that cause cancer or leukemia) have been formed.

  4. ( 04 )

    Chromosome excess or deficiency

By fluorescently labeling the central part (centromere) of a chromosome, it is possible to determine how many copies of a particular chromosome there are (whether there is an excess or deficiency in the number).

  5. ( 05 )

Microstructure at the ends of chromosomes

This test can detect changes that are easily overlooked in general tests, such as minute deletions or duplications at the ends of chromosomes (subtelomeres).

Our Products

FISH Probe provided by GSP LAB

  • Gene FISH Probe

Products for detecting abnormalities in specific genes

This product is used to identify how target genes are altered within cells, such as through amplification or deletion of specific genes, or through chromosomal aneuploidy.

The following products offer more accurate genetic abnormality detection:

    • CEN FISH Probe: Chromosome abnormality detection product (monochromatic)

By fluorescently labeling the centromere region at the center of the chromosome, we can detect chromosomes with specific numbers.

    • Multicolor FISH Probe: Chromosome abnormality detection product (multiple colors)

Because entire chromosomes or specific target regions can be fluorescently labeled with different colors, complex chromosomal translocations and aneuploidy can be analyzed simultaneously.

    • Subtelomere FISH Probe: A product for detecting abnormalities at the ends of chromosomes.

The subtelomere region near the ends of chromosomes is prone to deletions and rearrangements, so this method is used to detect minute abnormalities that are difficult to find with standard chromosome testing.

  • Split Fish Probe

Gene cutting, isolation, and detection products

This product is used to detect whether a specific gene has been cut (rearranged) midway through its path. The regions flanked by the target gene (the 5′ and 3′ sides of the breakpoint) are fluorescently labeled with different colors.

  • Translocation FISH Probe

Chromosomal translocation and fusion gene detection products

This product can pinpoint and detect specific "fusion genes" resulting from chromosomal translocations. It can accurately identify translocations and gene fusions where the genes being combined are known in advance.

AP Uniqueness

Possession of a proprietary BAC clone library

We possess approximately 180,000 to 200,000 BAC clones in our proprietary library, which are essential for the development and manufacture of FISH probes. This massive resource, equivalent to about seven times the approximately 30,000 clones needed to cover the entire human genome, allows us to rapidly produce FISH probes targeting any desired chromosomal region.

Our team consists of experts with extensive experience and knowledge.
